            SECOND ROUND SOLUTIONS 2009

Background The South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) is the official national mathematics competition of the country.  It is a three round competition with interesting questions and nice prizes. The three rounds take place in March, May and September of each year.

Question papers and solutions of the last few years are available on this web site. The names of each year's individual prize winners and our committee members are also posted.

For those of you interested in other mathematical sites of interest, our links page will point you in the right direction.

What does it take to become one of this year's winners? Creative thinking and a mathematically inclined mind. Check out our past exam questions to see if this could be you. Hope to see you in March when we begin writing the first round of the competition.
