Applications are hereby called for the position of a part-time Executive Director at the South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF) in Pretoria. 

The SAMF is a non-profit company registered to advance the development ofmathematics and mathematics education in South Africa. They aim to achieve this through programmes that focus on the promotion of quality teaching and learning and activities that improve public awareness of mathematics.


  • Guide, direct and implement any changes to the vision and strategic plan of the company.
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with funders, government and other organisations to help achieve the goals of the company.
  • Act as a spokesperson for SAMF (including to the media).
  • Represent SAMF on governmental and other committees to advise on teacher training, curriculum issues, policies changes proposed by government.
  • Develop funding proposals, meet with possible sponsors, negotiate renewal of contracts and build relations with new and existing sponsors.


  • Master’s degree in mathematics/mathematics education.
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders.
  • A minimum of 15 years management experience.
  • Understanding of the South African educational environment together with knowledge of educational policies and challenges concerning mathematics education.
  • Driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel in order to perform duties.
